SEE YOU IN LA: LCDQ 2019 CELEBRATES LEGENDARY ICONS OF DESIGN

Now in its 11th year, LCDQ’s Legends draws design industry luminaries for 3 days of fun in the sun in Los Angeles. As design events go, I look forward to this design marathon all year long. The can’t miss gathering of like-minded design denizens occurs May 7-9th, and promotes community, inspiration, and creativity with a wide range of keynote panels, conversations, product introductions, book signings and parties, lots of parties. Want to see that creativity in action? 40 designers are invited to create window vignettes in 50 participating showrooms and galleries along the design quarter centered around La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood. This year’s theme is a nod to nostalgia, as designers pay homage to an influential designer from the past. Luckily there are so many good design books that provide a view into legendary designers work to dig into for inspiration. Who will they choose? Will it be Tony Duquette? Albert Hadley? Elsie de Wolfe? Billy Baldwin? Or, someone else? You will have to wait for the big reveal to see and stroll the boulevard at night, the best time to take in all the elaborate design details.

A few new additions this spring include honoring esteemed designers Bunny Williams and Suzanne Rheinstein, two of my all time favorites. And since it’s important to preserve the past with care, a disco party to benefit SIA Projects, the organization started by LA design duo Jaime Rummerfield and Ron Woodson, with a mission of preserving unique LA architecture, will take place Wednesday evening.
