LIGHT THE WAY: A FRESH TAKE ON DECOUPAGE, THE LAMPS OF ROSANNA LONSDALE

When I came across Rosanna Lonsdale's decoupage lamps, I was taken with their pared down simplicity and vibrant colors. Featuring a single decorative element, from palm fronds to a zebra, the motif is heightened against a bright background color. I love the sophisticated yet whimsical feel they have, featuring regal animals and plant life.  British artist Rosanna Lonsdale has taken decoupage beyond what we expect with a fresh take, and carries on the tradition she learned from her grandmother Monica Greig, who also made decoupage lamps. She has been creating her lamps since 2012, with handblown glass bases painted with the verre eglomise technique, using with three layers of lacquer and three layers of paint on the inside, and then fitted with a turned brass base. Made to order, each lamp takes around 6-10 weeks, and is available though her website.  I would say its worth the wait!
