A WAY OF SEEING: THE NATURAL WORLD AS MUSE

Photos courtesy of Tania Vartan

Decorative painter, artist and textile designer Tania Vartan creates beautiful, realistic nature-based creations. From hand- painted panels of tromp l'oeil scenes (commissioned by creme de la creme interior designers over the years) to highly textural natural materials found in the world, her designs have an old world sensibility to them, inspired by travel and natural wonders. The New York and Kentucky-based artist sees travel as her muse, and the unique designs and paintings she dreams up have a fantastical quality to them. Available through Savel in New York, Bradley in Chicago and Atlanta, DeCioccio in Cincinnati, and Ken Kehoe in Houston, the fresh traditional designs add a dose of the unexpected.

Vartan's dining room resembles a cabinet of curiousite with her the Malachite linen on the walls and one of her eglomise paintings

Can't get enough of Malachite? Her custom tote made from her textural looking print is available here.

A favorite print of mine features sprightly purple Irises in bloom
