ISLAND WEAVES: LUSH THROWS MADE IN THE TRADITION OF NANTUCKET WEAVING

A Tribeca bedroom designed by Tharon Anderson

New York Interior designer to watch Tharon Anderson (yes, you heard it here first!),  who was raised on Nantucket, introduced me to the lush handwoven throws by Island Weaves. Shown above in a bedroom she designed, the mohair throws are loom-woven on Nantucket by Karen Ganga Sheppard. There is a long tradition of weaving on Nantucket, and Karen got her start working at the legendary Nantucket Looms and worked there for 20 years.  Creating individual, unique beautiful throws is a time consuming art. The result is a warm and cozy addition you will have forever. Find them online or if you are on island, visit at 20 Old South Wharf. Here are some of the best selling designs and other custom weaves that caught my eye.
