PENTREATH AND HALL: LONDON'S MOST CHARMING SHOP

Good things come in small packages. The saying is true. British interior design is endlessly inspiring to me, as are the shops and decor one finds there. Pentreath and Hall, a vest-pocket of a shop on London's Bloomsbury neighborhood at 17 Rugby Street is packed with wonderful things. Architect/designer Ben Pentreath and artist Bridie Hall have filled their diminutive shop with treasures old and new. Selling antique china next to re-framed intaglios, they respect the past and English Style, but serve it up in a fresh and exciting way. I adore the way they combine colors, making their mix unexpected and new. They have become a destination for style seekers, and those in the know seek them out for of-the-moment makers, like John Derian and Hall's own designs. They recently debuted the vibrant hand-made ikat lampshades of Melodi Horne, and created a simple yet stunning installation of her shades, seen below. It is this kind of creative display that makes the shop a go-to stop on your London shopping list. Filled with a tightly edited grouping of chairs, tabletop, antique ephemera and more, you don't want to miss this tiny treasure.

Don't overlook Ikat just yet, as it looks so now on these beautifully crafted shades

Hall designed classically-inspired mirrors and finished them in a heart-stopping red and cobalt blue

She also designed these  round lacquer-framed intaglios with contrasting color matting. SO chic.
