LUKE EDWARD HALL: BRITAIN'S BRIGHT YOUNG THING IS ONE TO WATCH

Photo courtesy of Luke Edward Hall's Instagram

I've had my eye on Luke Edward Hall for some time. This British wunderkind, a Central St. Martins graduate, stylist, fabric designer, illustrator and interior designer, is about to become huge. His color sense and combinations are fantastic, his vibe lived-in, old-world English, but  everything he incorporates together look fresh and new. Mixing an array of styles from Arts and Crafts and Bloomsbury to Neoclassical and Georgian, his blend is distinct and noteworthy.  It is inspiration like this that I live for. Catching the eye of Christies, Hall has styled things for their Interiors Magazine, and currently works for wonderful interior designer, architect  and shop owner architect Ben Pentreath (who worked with classical architects Fairfax and Sammons while in New York). Pentreath, along with artist Bridie Hall owns the superb Pentreath and Hall shop on Rugby Street in London, and Hall works across the street in their design studio.

Trying his hand at many things, this unabashed desire to create permeates Hall's color-saturated world. A resident of North London's Camden Square with his creative director partner, Duncan Campbell, together, they accumulate antique and new finds for their home. Recently, he launched a line of embroidered pillows (which I covered here back in September) that are available through his website, and has followed up with a limited run of art prints for Buddy Editions, Katie Armour's new online art resource. I can't wait to see what he introduces next. This bright young thing is poised for much, much more, it seems there isn't anything he can't do well.

Hall's London apartment as shot for the third issue of Christie's Interiors Magazine that just came out, January 2015. A dresser, in his bathroom, is styled like an old Dutch master painting. Beyond.  The charming wallpaper, Apothecary's Garden is an old C.F.A. Voysey design, is printed by Trustworth Studios in Massachusetts.

For his initial foray into printed fabrics, Hall created White Tiger, seen upholstered on a cozy reading chair in his London living room

A dark green wall is offset by a collection of framed butterflies in his London apartment

Boldly mixing patterns and unique colors in juxtaposition, Hall creates combinations often unconsidered. The result is extremely beautiful and dramatic.

Vivid pink peonies, hydrangea and zingy lemons offset the bright green tole table with porcelain bird statuary in another shot for Christies. Totally genius.

A marble mantel styled with beautiful objet for Christies London

Varying height and materials is one of the tricks to getting a beautiful shot of things. Here, the array is varied with pops of yellow and red, brass and marble.

Hall's color sense is unreal. His eye creates these divine combinations of jewel tones

The rhubarb leaves make it, don't you think? As does the burned down blue stub of a candle in the red marble and gold candlestick.

Mixing seashells, Majolica and beautiful entertaining elements he creates sumptuous tableaux

Another shot styled for th Christies magazine. Is it possible to make "brown furniture" fresh? You bet it is. That ikat shade and striped dhurrie rug adds just the right dose of bright color and pattern.

Ever aware of the impact of the mix, in another Christies vignette, the palest mint green walls do justice to an elaborate gilded French mirror and worn in leather sofa and chair with red trim.

I adore this stark moment- flowers captured in a footed urn, another charcoal print from Hall, Spring Flowers available at Buddy Editions. I love it so much I am making room for it right this instant.
