The Allure of What Came Before: Inspired by Directional Directoire

The influence of historical styles can be felt in everything from fashion to interiors.  As an appreciation for the Classical styles of yesteryear returns, including Neo-Classical style pieces in an interior not only enhances the mix but allows for a layered  look with modern day appeal. Finding inspiration in this mix of styles, the vignette I created celebrates the diversity of vintage and antique designs, rendered in America's favorite color palette of blue and white.

Paris is always a good idea. Grange, the furniture company known for their hand-crafted French furniture, is celebrating 110 years, and in honor of that, is holding a design contest. So what does the lucky winning blogger get for creating a winning tableau? Grange will be sending a lucky contest winner and one of their loyal blog readers to Paris in January to attend Maison Objet, the trend-illuminating trade show, as well as a factory tour and visit to the Grange HQ in Lyon, France.  I have created a vignette, shown above, around one of their best-selling pieces, the Directoire Console Cabinet. Building a scheme around the custom painted teal Paon blue piece, I chose to focus on blue and white and the allure of Neo Classical design, bringing in pattern and texture around the historically-inspired piece. I invite you to vote on my vignette by going to the Grange Furniture Inc Facebook page and liking my vignette there. Voting continues from today throughout the month, so I hope you will show your support by participating and YOU could be the one that comes avec moi to Paree!  Paris is a compelling destination any time of year, but escaping dreary New York City in January sounds like the best thing ever.
